As far as walking boots go, I have two pairs of combat boots that have been rotting in my closet and a pair of brown leather flat boots, which also are not getting much wear. Brown does not fit into my wardrobe very well, plus the sheath on them is way too slouchy looking, so I've been searching for a pair of black boots. Many people have recommended Fryes, and after getting the ones I thought I really wanted, I didn't like how they made my toes look so I had to let them go, and the search resumes. After browsing through the revolveclothing website (I usually browse one website to death at a time, but never multiple ones at once) I've picked 6 candidates:
I'm hoping the Loeffler Randals go on sale in my size soon.

I'm Shining a Light on, The Book of Right On
I like cheap stuff, I like books, and I like being a good person.
A friend recommended this website to me, after purchasing 5 or so books for around $20, so I of course had to check it out. Not only are the books cheap (or reasonably priced), the people who run this website raise funds for global literacy and save books from landfills.
Some dirt-cheap recommendations:
I don't know how well known Congreve is, but The Way of the World is basically 18th century Gossip Girl where the characters are slightly older.
Some of the most beautifully written poetry ever. Lyric Poems by John Keats.
Very very hilarious and clever absurdist play.
This book is a little more pricey, but I have never seen Rachilde carried at any bookstore I've been to, and she's simply deliciously decadent. I'd recommend reading this in the original French if possible, but this translation is quite good.

Some Velvet Morning, When I'm Straight
As far as fabrics go right now, I like lace, leather, sequins (Balmain blazers and these amazing leggings), and velvet.
For those of you who can afford it please buy these velvet dresses and this velvet jacket for me. :)
For those who aren't blessed with nauseating amounts of wealth, some other options:
Velvet skinny pants from Urban Outfitters and Topshop.
Velvet Blazer from Topshop. How cool is this?
Velvet Vest from UO.
The important thing when wearing velvet is to stay away from Victorian cuts such as bustier or lace-up torsos, puffy sleeves, puff/bubble skirt parts, and purple colors unless you're going for the goth-Lolita style.

On a Favourite Cat, Drowned in a Tub of Gold Fishes
TWAS on a lofty vase's side,
Where China's gayest art had dyed
The azure flowers that blow;
Demurest of the tabby kind,
The pensive Selima reclined,
Gazed on the lake below.
Her conscious tail her joy declared;
The fair round face, the snowy beard,
The velvet of her paws,
Her coat, that with the tortoise vies,
Her ears of jet, and emerald eyes,
She saw; and purr'd applause.
Still had she gazed; but 'midst the tide
Two angel forms were seen to glide,
The Genii of the stream:
Their scaly armour's Tyrian hue
Thro' richest purple to the view
Betray'd a golden gleam.
The hapless Nymph with wonder saw:
A whisker first and then a claw,
With many an ardent wish,
She stretch'd in vain to reach the prize.
What female heart can gold despise?
What Cat 's averse to fish?
Presumptuous Maid! with looks intent
Again she stretch'd, again she bent,
Nor knew the gulf between.
(Malignant Fate sat by, and smiled.)
The slipp'ry verge her feet beguiled,
She tumbled headlong in.
Eight times emerging from the flood
She mew'd to ev'ry wat'ry god,
Some speedy aid to send.
No Dolphin came, no Nereid stirr'd:
Nor cruel Tom, nor Susan heard.
A Fav'rite has no friend!
From hence, ye Beauties, undeceived,
Know, one false step is ne'er retrieved,
And be with caution bold.
Not all that tempts your wand'ring eyes
And heedless hearts, is lawful prize;
Nor all that glisters, gold.
Sir Thomas Gray
